Proud Members In Our Community

The members of CAW Local 199 have a long history of volunteerism in the Niagara area. We have helped to build Brock University, the Pelham Family Clinic, a Credit Union, a swimming pool, and a splash pad. We also helped purchased equipment for the St Catharines General Hospital. For decades, we have raised countless dollars for various community groups and over $12 million for the United Way.

Our involvement in the community is not just about raising money or negotiating wage and benefit improvements for our members.

Members of Local 199 donate their time every day to a variety of organization such as Meals on Wheels, the Bethlehem project and the United Way. They are also involved with organizing & coaching local sports, golf tournaments, and trivia nights.

Currently, we are organizing the Merriton Labour Day Parade, helping to rebuild New Orleans, and building affordable housing in Niagara. Our members are also preparing for the 9th annual Community Christmas Dinner, where volunteers from Local 199 work together with community sponsors and Locals 676, 275 & 523 to provide a Christmas meal for over 700 people in our community.

These are just some of the ways in which 199 members show their support and appreciation for the community in which they live.
