Elections Committee
Chair Person: Steve McMullen 905-682-2611
Steve McMullen
Vice Chair: Bernie Keating
Secretary: Ken Maclean
Executive Liaison:

Objectives: The election committee conducts all Local 199 elections when called for. The date of an election is determined by either the President or Unit Chairperson and the Elections Committee chairperson. The date of election must fall within a two month period at the end of the term of office. It is the responsibility of the elections committee to ensure the election is fair and to take charge of the nomination ballots, voting ballots, to count the votes and inform the membership of the results.

Once an election is called, a seven day notice of election is posted to inform the membership of the upcoming election. The ballot box is open for 7 days so eligible members can nominate themselves for election. The election starts seven days after the Nomination box closes. Voting can take place in either the workplace, at the union hall or in some cases in all the units and at the hall. A pre vote is also arranged for members who will be absent on the date of the election.

The elections committee chairperson makes recommendations to the membership to ensure the integrity of the process is maintained. The committee shall have full charge of the elections process and is governed by the local Elections Manual, Local Bylaws and the CAW constitution.
