RETIREE CHAIR REPORT 199 NEWS REPORTS

Attention all retirees,

Did you know about the CAW Wood Working Shop?

The retiree chapter of local 199 offers a considerable amount of activities for our retired members. Many of our retirees do not know that we have a fully equipped Wood Working shop located at 431 Queenston Street, in St Catharines.

At the wood shop retirees can meet, work on projects or use the equipment. The retiree's Wood working shop has produced several projects for the community and the Union Hall.

Currently we are looking for volunteers to come in, use the facilities and work on these projects.

The Centre is open Monday - Friday, the hours vary from day to day.

If you are interested please contact us at one of the following numbers; Dennis 905-935-3281 or Bill 905-688-7797

CAW Local 199 has a retiree chapter with over 6,000 members, when members of the union retire they automatically become members of the retiree chapter. New members are invited to visit the lounge and are welcomed to the chapter by the Chairperson Barb Abrams. Barb will explain all the activities that are going on in the lounge and give the new members a tour of the facility.

Retirees are also encouraged to take part in activities that support retired workers, such as the National Pension Campaign

Chapter activities range from exercise classes, cards, darts, snooker, golf, bowling, pot luck suppers and bus trips. Whether you want to hang out and shoot a few games of pool or participate in organized events the retiree chapter has something for everyone.

Each May the chapter holds it annual Sports Banquet. A meal is served and prizes and awards are handed out for the different events held through out the year.
